Initially the education is been a charity and the people who involved are been given a great respect in the society. I mean the persons who gives education and who enables it. Actually India is one among the countries which keeps educational institutions as a charity foundation. It is because from the past education is considered as a charity in our country and it is been treated as the right to every person. But the present situation made our government to enact a Right to Education bill in our parliament. What factors made this changes is been already discussed by so many media and writers. Now you can wonder how this idiot’s perception is going to be different from others, but I can assure not many writers covered this kind of facts. Because it is from my own experience, only I can describe it, others cannot!!

As like the educational history of India, mine too started off very well. My primary school teachers are so good to me and they ignited me always to study not by any hard punishments, but by soft words. I can feel the warmness I felt around them till now, that is the reason I had topped in academics all the time i.e., till my primary school days. Even they missed a thing for me, I had never realized my interests and they too never guided me to that. Once I entered in to my SSLC I started to feel that education system is ruining me. I never had any interest to study; I never realized the reasons for my change in attitude. But the thing is during those days I always advised to hold a textbook in my hand by my teachers. They did a crazy thing, which is teaching the class 10 syllabus from the last months of class 9. First I didn’t get the reasons for this, but later I understood they are making us to be ready for the public exams to the earliest.

It is because we need to secure marks higher, that is the trend still which is been followed in our educational institutions. They need to project that their students have secured good marks and that facts will gain them admission. They never care what each of the individuals dream about; particularly they shatter the dreams of students at the initial stage. These are started to occur in our system once the competition is started between the schools. The management in order to face the competition advised their staffs with different set of strategies in different stages,
• First stage they advised to have more concentration on weak students.
• Second they implemented several punishments which are sadistic occasionally.
• Finally a thing which made everything worse, implementation of incentives for teachers who handled the best performing classes.
Now you may wonder how an incentive will lead to these problems, but the path I came across in my life has the proof to it. Here the incentive made the teachers to focus on the marks of the students not on the behavior of the students. Because here it is a number to number deal, the numbers displayed in every students mark sheets influences the numbers in paychecks of themselves. So most of the teachers are aimed at achieving the incentive, I didn’t blame them for this, but they should have considered the aims of their students too. I had this kind of personal experience in my life even during my college days. The following are about the different stages of teachers actions with me,
• Guided me to secure good marks
• Forced me to get average marks
• Pushed me to pass marks
• Threatened me to write exam
It is because during the last stage, my mind started to think independently and those are the days I started to hate system of our country.
Our Indian education system is not only ruining the minds and dreams of its students, also ruining itself. I hope for a change soon and sure that I will be the change I wish to see in it. Because me also one among the victims of this system.
P.S: I use this medium to dedicate my educators- Dad and my close friend Balu.
Also the idea to this post striked my mind while i reading "freakonomics", thanks to Stephen J. Levitt.
